Install and Configure the Microsoft Outlook App on an iPhone or iPad

We recommended using Microsoft's free Microsoft Outlook app to access your Davidson email on your iPhone or iPad. The Microsoft Outlook app allows for synchronizing Outlook calendars across multiple devices and multiple platforms.
  1. Connect to the Apple App Store. If you are on-campus, you should be connected to the Eduroam wireless network.

  2. Search for the free Microsoft Outlook - email and calendar app.

  3. Download the app by tapping the GET button.
    • If you have previously downloaded or installed the app, you might see the Download  iOS download button icon instead.
    • Tap the INSTALL button.
      • If you have previously downloaded or installed the app, you might not see this button.
    • Tap the OPEN button.

  4. Tap the Get Started button.

  5. On the Add Account screen, type in your full Davidson email address and tap the Add Account button.

  6. On the Davidson Work or school account screen, type in your Davidson password and tap the Sign-in button.

  7. Tap on the Maybe Later button when prompted to add another account.

  8. You can choose to review the tutorial screens or you can tap Skip in the lower-left corner.

  9. Tap Turn On if you would like to be notified of incoming emails or calendar invitations or tap No Thanks to suppress these notifications.

  10. Tap Allow if you would like Outlook to access your contacts or Don't Allow to block this access.

  11. At this point, the setup is complete and you should see messages in your Outlook inbox.

We recommend using Microsoft's free Microsoft Outlook app to access your Davidson email on your Android smartphone or tablet. The Microsoft Outlook app allows for synchronizing Outlook calendars across multiple devices and multiple platforms. 
  1. Connect to the Google Play Store. If you are on-campus, you should be connected to the Eduroam wireless network.

  2. Search for the free Microsoft Outlook app.

  3. Once you find it in the search results, tap the INSTALL button.

  4. After installation, tap the OPEN button to launch the app.

  5. Tap the Get Started button.

  6. On the Add Account screen, type in your full Davidson email address and tap the CONTINUE> button.

  7. On the Davidson Work or school account screen, type in your Davidson password and tap the Sign in button.

  8. Tap on the Maybe Later button when prompted to add another account.

  9. You can choose to review the tutorial screens or you can tap Skip in the lower-left corner.

  10. Tap Turn On if you would like to be notified of incoming emails or calendar invitations or tap No Thanks to suppress these notifications.

  11. Tap Allow if you would like Outlook to access your contacts or Don't Allow to block this access.

The Focused Inbox and Organize By Thread Options

Both the Focused Inbox and Organize By Thread options are turned on by default during the Microsoft Outlook installation. To turn off either option, use the following steps:

  • While viewing your Outlook Inbox, click the profile icon in the top left corner
  • Then tap on the Settings icon in the bottom left corner.
  • Slowly scroll down through the settings, and you will find the Focused Inbox option. To turn off the Focused Inbox option, flip the switch from On iOS switch on to Off iOS switch off.
  • Just below the Focused Inbox option, you will see the Organize By Thread option. To turn off the Organize By Thread option, flip the switch from On iOS switch on to Off iOS switch off.
