Install Mathematica on Your Office Computer - Employees

These instructions are for Davidson-owned computers used in faculty and staff offices.
Click here for student-owned computers.

Windows

  1. Click on the Windows Start button in the lower left corner of the Windows desktop.
  2. Search for and then launch the Software Center application.
  3. In the left panel, click on Applications.
  4. Click on the large Mathematica icon to launch the installation.

    Important: Please note the version number of the application, because you will need this in the next section.

  5. Click on the Install button.
  6. While the installer runs, you may proceed to the Acquire an Activation Key section below.

Mac

  1. Click on the Spotlight icon (tiny magnifying glass) in the upper right corner of your screen.
  2. In the Search field, type Self Service and press the enter key.
  3. In the Categories frame to the left of the Self Service window, click on Apps (Licensed).
  4. Click on the word INSTALL under the large Mathematica icon to launch the installation.

    Important: Please note the version number of the application, because you will need this in the next section.

  5. Follow the installation instructions on the screen, providing your Davidson email address and password when prompted.
  6. While the installer runs, you may proceed to the Acquire an Activation Key section below.

Acquire an Activation Key

  1. Open a web browser and access the following web address: https://user.wolfram.com/portal/requestAK/0794b96cc34ea0c1f72d968c0047879eb2253d6d 
  2. On the Wolfram User Portal page, log into your existing Wolfram account or create a new one, as appropriate.

    Important: You must use your Davidson email address.

  3. On the Wolfram Activation Key Request Form page, enter first name, last name, email address and Davidson department. In the Notes/Machine Name field, enter the tag number of your Davidson computer. (Example: 14188)
  4. In the Select a product section, choose Mathematica for Sites (Single Machine) and the version that matches what you installed above.
  5. Click on the Submit button. You should soon receive an email with your unique activation key.
  6. Launch Mathematica and provide the activation key when prompted.
  7. This activation key is good through late May. You will receive email from Wolfram about renewing your activation sometime in May, after the college has renewed its license for another year.
