Add the LockDown Browser block to your Moodle course
- Launch Moodle (https://moodle.davidson.edu) and open your course.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, toggle on Edit mode.
- If your block drawer is not open, click the arrow button under the Edit mode toggle to open the block drawer.
- At the top of the block drawer, click Add a block.
- Click on the Respondus LockDown Browser block to add it to your course. If it is not available, the block is already installed in your Moodle course and you can continue to the next section.
Specify the quizzes that require the LockDown Browser
- In the block drawer of your Moodle course, find the Respondus Lockdown Browser block and click on the Dashboard ... link within that block.
- The Dashboard will now display all of the quizzes in the current Moodle course. To the left of the quiz for which you'd like to use the LockDown Browser, click on the icon.
- Choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.
- Enable Advanced Settings as needed:
Advanced Settings Explanations and Recommendations Lock students into the browser until the exam is completed Not recommended. This setting is sometimes used in testing centers where a proctor can enter a password to exit an exam early. Allow students to take this exam with an iPad Recommended. Enable if you have students who may be using an iPad for the exam. Allow access to specific external web domains You may allow access to specific web pages within the LockDown browser like online textbooks or class notes saved in cloud storage like Google Drive. Multiple exceptions may need to be made, especially if students will need to authenticate to a Davidson system. Email ti@davidson.edu if you are interested in using this feature. Enable Calculator on the toolbar A standard or scientific calculator can be enabled on the LockDown Browser toolbar. Enable Printing from the toolbar A print button can be enabled on the LockDown Browser toolbar, allowing the exam screen to be printed. - Click on the Save + Close button.
