Installing Read&Write for Mac or Windows

Davidson has licensed Read&Write literacy software for installation on both college-owned computers and on the personally-owned Mac and Windows computers of students (note: employee home computers are not covered). In addition, the software is already installed on all computers in the campus computer labs.

To install on a campus or student-owned Mac or Windows computer:

  1. Acquire the software by downloading it directly from the vendor, Texthelp. From their Read&Write page, click the link for the free 30 day trial, then choose your operating system.
  2. Once the installer has been downloaded, run it and follow the directions the installer provides.
  3. After the software is installed, launch it. You will be prompted to sign in; choose the Google account option.
  4. A web browser window will open. Depending on what connections your computer already has with Google accounts, it may suggest an account to use. You must use your Davidson email address and network password to access the Read&Write license.
