The steps below explain how to copy a Moodle page resource from one course to another. Moodle "page resources" are nothing more than HTML web pages and the technique below simply explain how to copy the HTML source code from one course to another.
Copy the page content from the original Moodle course
- Launch Moodle (https://moodle.davidson.edu) and open your course.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, click on the "gear" icon to open the course settings.
- On the resulting drop-down list, select the Turn editing on menu option.
- Find the page resource you'd like to copy and select Edit settings from the drop-down list box to the right of the content.
- In the Page content section of the settings, click on the first icon in the editing toolbar to expand the editing toolbar
- Once the editing toolbar has been expanded to two rows, click on the last icon in the second row to switch to HTML view.
- Select and copy the entire page of HTML code.
Paste the page content into a new Moodle course
- Open up the new course in Moodle.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, click on the "gear" icon to open the course settings.
- On the resulting drop-down list, select the Turn editing on menu option.
- Click on the Add an activity or resource link in the appropriate location in your course.
- Select the Page radio button in the left column (in the Resources section near the bottom) and click on the Add button.
- In the Name field, type in a name for the new page you are creating. (Sorry but this is not copied from the other Moodle course.)
- TIP: In the Page content section, type some temporary text like xxx.
- In the Page content section of the settings, click on the first icon in the editing toolbar to expand the editing toolbar
- Once the editing toolbar has been expanded to two rows, click on the last icon in the second row to switch to HTML view. It is easy to tell if you are in HTML view when you look at the formatting of the "xxx" you entered earlier.
- Paste the HTML code from the other course, replacing the temporary text you entered earlier.
- Scroll down and click on the Save and return to course button.
