Update to Palo Alto Global Protect VPN - Spring 2024

On March 22, 2024 T&I launched an updated VPN service, Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN, on all Davidson-managed computers. Use of the Cisco AnyConnect VPN application has been discontinued.

About This VPN Update

Davidson's previous VPN solution, Cisco AnyConnect, is nearing the end of its service life, and has been replaced with a more modern, flexible VPN system. This change has been implemented as part of our ongoing efforts to keep Davidson's devices secure, and important data protected.

All Davidson-managed computers were updated the week of March 18 with the new Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN in preparation for this transition. After March 22 at 6:00 pm, all VPN usage transfered to GlobalProtect.

Important Note about Using VPN on Davidson Devices
After March 22 at 6:00 pm, all users will need to use their Davidson device to access VPN and connect to services that require VPN usage.

Using Palo Alto GlobalProtect

All Davidson-managed devices eligible for VPN usage should be automatically updated with the new Palo Alto GlobalConnect VPN software. GlobalConnect is only installed on Davidson-managed devices, and is not intended for use on personal devices. All VPN usage, including accessing applications that require a VPN connection, is limited to Davidson computers.

If you have any concerns about current processes that may require you to use a personal device to access VPN on specific occasions, please contact ti@davidson.edu to discuss options.
