Zoom Fax is an e-faxing solution that bring's fax capabilities directly to your computer through your existing Zoom client. This guide provides information about using Zoom Fax.

Using Zoom Fax
Sending and receiving faxes through Zoom is quick and straightforward. Note: Zoom Fax works by sending PDF documents. If you have a physical document you need to fax, use a PawPrint printer on campus to scan and email a copy of the file to yourself before starting the Zoom Fax process.
Sending a Fax
- Open the Zoom app on your device and click the Fax tab at the top of the window. Alternatively, Fax may be found under the Phone tab, next to the SMS option. If you don't see it in either location, you may need to restart your Zoom application.
- Click the + button in the top left corner to create a new fax.
- Enter the recipient's fax number in the To field.
Note: If your department uses a shared line, you can select it from the "From" dropdown menu.
- Click the Upload icon, or click and drag your file to attach your PDF document.
- Remember, you can also select upload from Google Drive to avoid downloading files to your device if they're already in google drive!
- Click Send.
Receiving Faxes
- To view incoming faxes, simply select Inbox from the left-hand navigation panel.
- Under the Lines dropdown, you can also filter by your own line, or Shared fax lines you may have access to.
- Please Remember: For security purposes, faxes are deleted 7 days after receipt.
Frequently Asked Questions
My office has a single fax line that we share, can we continue to use that?
- The initial rollout of Zoom Fax is opening fax usage for individual lines. T&I will work directly with departments using shared fax lines to coordinate on moving your shared line from a fax-enabled printer over to Zoom Fax.
Do students have access to faxing?
- Zoom Fax is currently configured for faculty and staff accounts. Students who require assistance with faxing for college-related business should work with the appropriate campus office, which may be able to send the fax on their behalf.
What about sensitive documents? Are there things I shouldn't fax with Zoom?
- Zoom Fax is encrypted and secured in transmission, making it more technically secure than a regular fax. With that in mind, your use of Zoom Fax should always adhere to Davidson's Data Security Policy.
- Ensure that any files created as part of the Zoom Fax process are stored appropriately per Davidson's Data Security Policy and deleted from your device, your email and your download folders upon fax completion
- Remember, the storage or deletion of PDF files created to be sent is still your responsibility. Leaving a PDF in your downloads folder is akin to leaving your document on the fax machine for the next person to find. Use caution with PDF files like you would a physical document.
