How-To: Take Attendance in Moodle

The Attendance activity is a Moodle plugin that is designed for instructors to take attendance during class and to allow students to view their own attendance records.

Setting up Attendance

If you have a merged course for multiple sections and would like assistance with setting up attendance for multiple sections, contact ti@davidson.edu 

  1. Add an attendance activity
  2. Review the settings.
    1. To to the Settings tab and expand the Grade section. By default, the Attendance activity is automatically added to your gradebook.
    2. Set the Maximum grade for the activity. If you do not want Attendance to show in the gradebook, set Type to None.
    3. If you have created categories in you Gradebook setup, select the correct Grade category.
  3. Set categories and grade options
  4. Add sessions (be sure to check Create multiple sessions to add all sessions for the semester at once)
