How-To: Extend the deadline or time limit on a Moodle 4 quiz for one student - Faculty

Important Note on Overrides:
When granting extra time for a Moodle quiz using overrides, you must adjust both the time limit and the closing time. If the closing time is set earlier than the extended time limit in the override, the quiz will automatically close at the closing time, regardless of the extra time provided. To ensure students receive the full intended duration, always extend the closing time accordingly.

  1. Launch Moodle (https://moodle.davidson.edu) and open your course.
  2. Locate and open your quiz.
  3. In the top menu, click on More and select Overrides.
  4. Click on the Add user override button.
  5. In the Search field, type the user's first or last name. Select the user and the name will appear in blue above the search area.
  6. Update the open and close dates, number of attempts, and/or time limit for the quiz.
  7. Click on the Save button to finish, or Save and enter another override to set another override.
