How To: Transfer Your Domain (Name Only) to a Third Party Service (When Leaving the College)

NOTE: This procedure applies only to those who acquired Davidson Domains domains prior to August 2020, and use a top-level domain name (TLD) such as www.jaysmith.com. If you set up your domain after that date and have a decreate.domains name, your content, but not your domain name, can be transferred to another service -- see here for more detail.

  1. Log in to http://domains.davidson.edu.
  2. Hover your cursor over "Manage Your Account" from the top menu in the black navigation bar and click "Migration Information".

  3. Click the "Locked" button next to the domain name you want to keep and move to another hosted service. This will unlock the domain and allow transfer.

  4. Click the "Get Code" button to get an EPP code (sometimes called a transfer secret). This code is required to authorize the transfer of your domain name. Copy the code and keep it safe.

  5. Take that code to a third party hosting service to transfer the domain name.

Other options for handing your Domains account when leaving the College are outlined here.
