What Is PawPrint?
PawPrint is a networked printing system that allows students and employees to print from personal computers, Davidson College-managed devices, and public labs to networked printers available across campus.
As long as you're on the eduroam wifi network, you can print to PawPrint printers found across campus. Black and white printing for students is free, and color printing is charged at $.06 per page, deducted from your CatCard balance.
T&I is here to help with any questions or concerns as you begin to use PawPrint across campus. Reach out to us at ti@davidson.edu for any issues, whether it be a printer that's out of paper, or issues with installing PawPrint to your device.
Installation Options
Email to Print
For simple print jobs, Email to Print allows you to directly send your files to PawPrint printers via email, rather than installing specific drivers. This is also useful for printing from your phone or tablet.
To use Email to Print:
Email pawprint@davidson.edu with the file(s) you want to print attached (you can attach more than one file at a time).
As soon as you send this email, please wait for a reply (which should appear in under a minute) asking you to follow a link to print the Email to Print job. Clicking this link is necessary to load the files in PawPrint.
After you click this link, you can release the files from any printer as normal.
Please keep in mind that Email to Print only accepts .pdf and picture files, and does not accept Microsoft Office file types such as .docx. You can learn how to convert using our guide How to Convert to PDF.

Printing Basics
Which printer do I select?
PawPrint separates itself into three ‘print queues’ on your device. These are to differentiate various features between printers.
For standard black/white printing, you should always use PawPrint. If you don’t need to print in color, do not use the advanced options. Color printing for students is $.06 cents per colored side printed, deducted from the declining balance on your CatCard.
If you are printing in color, select the appropriate Advanced option, HP or Canon, based on the type of printer you’ll be collecting the job at. The library and union, our most-used printers, are both Canons.
If you would like more information on color printing, you can see our guide.
Print Release
Once you have sent the print job from your laptop, either by printing to the appropriate printer, or using email-to-print, you'll need to release the print job at any PawPrint machine.
To release your job at the printer, Tap your CatCard on the scanner, or put in your Davidson credentials to log into the printer, and select Print Release. Check the document that you'd like to print, then click print.
Quick Tip: Any print jobs you send to the printer will remain ready for release for up to 24 hours. If you know you'll have multiple jobs to print, you can always send each of them to the printer, and then go release all the jobs at once rather than trecking back and forth to a printer multiple times.
Color Printing
Color printing for students is $.06 cents per colored side printed, deducted from the declining balance on your CatCard. Make sure you have a balance available on your CatCard. If you have no declining balance, you will not be able to print in color. You can add to your declining balance at catcard.davidson.edu.
To print in color, make sure you are selecting the appropriate "Pawprint Advanced" option. If your job still comes out in greyscale at the printer, you may need to change additional settings. Please see our guide for advanced settings for more details.
The printer only bills you when it uses colored ink. If the job still came out in greyscale, you should not be billed for the $.06 per page.
