Requesting Single Sign-On (SSO) for Applications

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication method that allows you to login to multiple applications and services. This article details how to request SSO for a product/application.

What is SSO?

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication method that allows you to login to multiple applications and services using a single set of credentials (your Davidson username and password). We use Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure AD) as our primary identity provider.

The New SSO Request Process

To streamline the process, we have launched a new SSO Request Form in Kuali Build. This form ensures our Infrastructure-Systems team has all the necessary information to configure your application safely and efficiently in Microsoft Entra.

Purpose of the Form

The form gathers critical data required for the setup, including:

  • Application Details: Name, description, and the vendor's technical documentation.
  • Configuration Requirements: Details like Identifier (Entity ID) and Reply URL (Assertion Consumer Service URL).
  • User Provisioning: Information on who needs access and how accounts should be created.
  • Security & Data: Assessment of the type of data the application will handle.

How to Submit a Request

  1. Gather Documentation: Before starting, ensure you have the SSO configuration guide or metadata file from your application vendor.
  2. Complete Security Review: Ensure the Security Review has been completed, or at least started. For more information, review the Security Review Process (sign-in required) for access.
  3. Access the Form: Navigate to the SSO Request Form in Kuali Build. Or look for the purple SSO Request Icon under Technology & Innovation.

  1. Complete the Fields: Fill out all required sections. Consult your application vendor for guidance regarding “vendor provided” fields.
  2. Submit for Review: Once submitted, your request will open a T&I Support ticket for the Infrastructure-Systems team to review and complete your SSO request.
