SUMMARY
T&I uses a variety of strategies to distribute software and licenses, depending on the scope of campus use and the requirements of the software vendor. Widely-used software may be pre-installed on every computer or made available via Self-Service portals for installation on demand. Less common titles may be in Self-Service, or may be supplied via a download link with instructions on how to self install. Software license availability varies widely depending on the application and license agreement terms.
AVAILABILITY
✓ Installations via self service portals are available to college-owned computers only.
✓ Depending on license terms, programs may be restricted to certain users (“only faculty and students”), on certain devices (“only college-owned computers”), and/or in certain locations (“physically located on campus”).
✓ Activating a license or using the software may require a connection to the campus network (in person or VPN) or an active internet connection and login to the vendor’s license management service via a Davidson SSO or manually created account.
