Printer Transition Project Information

Davidson’s current printer contract is coming to a close on January 16, 2025 and Toshiba has been selected as the new campus printer provider. New Toshiba printers will be installed during January 2026.

Installation Details

New Toshiba printers were installed across campus in January 2026. The majority of new printers have been installed and are ready for use. 
 

Project Timeline

December 17 and January 5 | DEX representatives on campus to decommission current student-facing printers for replacement. 
January 7 - 8 | Toshiba representatives on campus to remove old student-facing printers and install new Toshiba printers in their place.
January 8 - 12 | T&I staff on campus to decommission departmental printers for replacement. 
January 12 - 13 | DEX representatives on campus to prep additional departmental printers for replacement.
January 14 - 16 | Toshiba representatives on campus to remove old departmental printers and install new Toshiba printers in their place.
January 20 | Toshiba representatives on campus for final installation and troubleshooting.
 

Using the New Printers

While the printers themselves have been, the way you send and release print jobs using PaperCut and CatCards has not changed. The card readers are in various locations on the printer depending on the model. You may find the reader on the side, top or front of the printer. Tap your CatCard or Mobile CatCard to log in.

Employees will continue to use PawPrint Employee for black and white prints and PawPrint Employee Advanced for color printing. Students will use PawPrint for black and white printing and PawPrint Advanced for color printing. Students will be required to reinstall color printer drivers to print in color.

Faxing
Davidson fax capabilities have moved to Zoom. The new printers do not have wired fax enabled. You can continue to send and receive faxes using Zoom Fax. More information about Zoom Fax.

OCR
All printers have optical character recognition (OCR) capabilities. OCR is enabled by default for all scans.
